Frequently Asked Questions

-
What is different about your coaching from other programs?Stan works with clients primarily through non-directive coaching. Through a variety of techniques and interaction modes, Stan helps his clients become aware of their own self-limiting behaviors and beliefs and find new approaches to accelerate their growth as leaders. Stan integrates lessons learned from over four decades in consulting and technology to provide relevant context and learning. Stan helps clients hone their leadership style by holding space for them to share openly and without fear of judgment. The safe space Stan co-creates with his clients allows them to explore options they may have not considered fully and to find alternative paths to address their toughest challenges. Stan is a true accountability partner on his clients' journeys forward, growing their leadership and impact with both heart and mind.
-
How do I know I’ll get personalized attention in my 1:1 Coaching program? To develop deep, impactful coaching partnerships and maintain high-quality interactions with each and every client, Stan caps the number of memberships he is willing to offer concurrently. If at any time you feel you aren’t getting the attention you need, Stan will happily re-evaluate your engagement and find the model that works best for you.
-
What if I am a coaching client but I want Stan’s advice on something?By holding space, asking challenging questions, calling out the truth without judgement, and working through various modalities, Stan helps clients reframe their perspectives, uncover alternatives, and commit to concrete actions. There are times when it is appropriate and beneficial for Stan to offer key takeaways from his experience, but this is rarely the source of client’s most powerful learning and growth. When it is clear that Stan's expertise and knowledge can accelerate growth for a client, Stan may step out of coaching mode. When this arises, Stan will explicitly call out that he is shifting modes to avoid confusion. Stan emphasizes that, when he does this, he is sharing his experience in related situations, rather than any indication of what may be the best solution for any specific client in their unique circumstance. If you find that really need more in-depth guidance and advice for you and your business, consider requesting a Strategic Advisory engagement the next tie you meet with Stan.
-
How can corporate stakeholders gain visibility into an engagement?Any company-sponsored client can add a series of three 60-minute Stakeholder Check-in Sessions (sponsor, client, and coach) to their engagement for an additional fee. Check-In Sessions are usually conducted at the kick-off, mid-point, and close of the engagement.
-
Are Coaching sessions, Stakeholder Check-ins, & Mastermind meetings always conducted remotely?Normally, 1:1 Coaching sessions, Stakeholder Check-ins, and Group Mastermind meetings are conducted remotely via Zoom. For select clients, Stan will consider travelling to your location for sessions. Whether this is possible will depend on Stan's availability and will require additional fees for transit time and payment of appropriate T&E expenses.
-
Are Team Coaching Services conducted remotely?Team Coaching Services may be conducted remotely (for distributed teams) or at the location of your choosing. Team Coaching Services proposals will include custom deliverables, payment schedules, and fees, including all appropriate T&E expenses.
-
Why do you require 6-month minimum commitments?Building a true trust relationship with anyone takes time. As well, deep and lasting transformation requires introspection, exploration, implementation, and reflection on the outcomes - this also takes time. Stan has found, virtually without exception, that an arc of 6 months or longer results in better impact for his clients and better results for their businesses. Stan is flexible on the frequency of sessions with 1:1 executive coaching clients and will work with you to determine a rhythm most appropriate for you and your circumstances.
-
What payment options are there?Payments for 1:1 Executive Coaching and Group Masterminds may be made monthly or as a one-time payment. Monthly payments will incur a 10% surcharge over the quoted rates. Proposals for all other services will include a payment schedule to be mutually agreed upon. All payments may be made by bank transfer or credit card. Credit card payments will incur service charges as follows: Visa, Mastercard, or Discover: 3.5% of the transaction + $0.30 USD American Express: 4.3% of the transaction + $0.30 USD
-
What happens after I get in touch? All clients are required to submit the online form to get in touch. Subsequently, Stan may request additional information and/or set up a 25-min discovery call to ensure that he understands the particulars of your engagement (challenges you hope to address, session frequency and timing, etc.). Stan personally reviews every application and will normally respond within a few business days. Based on the information you provide, Stan will determine if believes you will be a good fit for his services. If so, Stan will share an engagement proposal with a contract specifying the duration, activities/deliverables, and the required investment. After you sign the contract and work with tan to process your payment, the fun work begins!
